Acceptable Use Policy

Owwel is for running a business honestly. This sets out the few things it must not be used for, and what happens if it is.

Last updated 26 August 2026

2. Only data you have the right to hold

  • Do not upload customer lists you obtained without permission.
  • Do not store personal data you have no lawful basis to keep.
  • Do not store card numbers, PINs or full bank credentials in note fields. Owwel is not built to hold them and they do not belong there.
  • Do not upload material you do not have the rights to.

3. Marketing messages

The SMS campaigns you send through Owwel go out under your name to people who gave you their number. That carries obligations.

  • Only message people who have agreed to hear from you.
  • Honour opt-outs. Owwel records them against the customer and excludes them automatically, and you must not work around that.
  • Do not send messages that are misleading, threatening or fraudulent.
  • Do not use campaigns for bulk unsolicited advertising to purchased lists.

4. Do not attack the service

  • Do not attempt to access another business's data. Separation is enforced at the database, and attempts are logged.
  • Do not probe, scan or attempt to breach the service, except as invited under the security reporting process below.
  • Do not use automated means to place unreasonable load on the service.
  • Do not resell or sublicense access to Owwel without a written agreement.
  • Do not share one login between people. Invite them as team members with their own roles instead.

5. Security research

Testing the security of your own account, in good faith, without accessing anyone else's data and without degrading the service, is welcome. Tell us what you find at info@owwel.com. Reports made in good faith will not be met with a legal threat.

6. What happens if this is breached

Our response is proportionate to what happened.

  • For most issues we contact you first and give you the chance to put it right.
  • Where there is an immediate risk to other customers, to the service, or to someone's safety, we may suspend an account first and explain immediately after.
  • Serious or repeated breaches can end the agreement.
  • Where an account is closed for breach, you will still be given a reasonable opportunity to export your data, unless the law prevents it.
  • Where the law requires us to report something, we will.
